Finding the Comfort Zone

Posted on October 20, 2009. Filed under: Blogroll, General |

So with October coming to an end, one finds the weather wackier than normal. We were hitting the low 30’s in parts of Atlanta where the temperature is not supposed to see past the 50 degree mark.

I am of course not being helped by the radical shift in temperatures with my rheumatoid arthritis kicking into action in my shoulders; I have utilized Tylenol to help knock down the aches and pains.

Continuing my workouts at the local gym that I am using (Anytime Workout), I am holding steady on the number of repetitions and weights typically using the 70-90 pound weight settings for the upper arm and chest while using the 120-140 pound ranges for the lower muscles.

The weight issue I am having of course is a concern, but I have dropped seven pounds since starting my exercise program. I did get my results back from my physical and I was surprised to learn that I am Vitamin D deficient so I have begun taking supplements using D3 at 2000 IU per dose.

Another issue is the arthritis. As I am dealing with that difficulty I am finding that riding on the Suzuki Burgman is becoming a factor and not wanting to just leaving the bike sitting in the garage, I have decided to put it up for sale. My main worry is with my constant arm position in play I cannot easily hold those positions for long and I cannot adjust the bars to a more suitable position so it is best to give it another home.

Another change I am doing is my diet, I am reducing caloric intake and of course changing to a better diet of rice and low fat meats.

I hope the diet will do several things, which is to reduce my weight and of course help deal with the joint issues of my pain.

Onto other matters, what is it with Reality TV and those that want to be on a show or have a show? The Heene family of Colorado is a prime example of “What Were You Thinking?” at moment of conception. Richard Heene and his wife Mayumi are facing serious charges from the attempt to get publicity.

There were any number of things that could have gone wrong. The balloon was a hazard to navigation of course and if a jetliner flying at close to 600 knots did not see it in time, the collision would have done damage to an aircraft.

Then there are the rescuers falling all over themselves to chase down the wayward balloon because they assumed that there was 6 year old kid stuck inside. Of course we now know that it was a setup. But there was in fact a real “Balloon Boy” and it was in 1964.  Then 11 years old, Dan Nowell got his hand entangled into a tie down line of a hot air balloon and was lifted just over 3,000 feet into the sky before the balloonist discovered his extra passenger. For more on the story take a look at the San Francisco Chronicle at http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/10/20/MNHK1A7P5F.DTL&nopu=1 for more about the experience of that young man.

So one wants to get on reality television? Folks, please just Google or Bing and you will find plenty of places to signup for an audition.

Have a great week, and try to get comfy. I am at least I now have a snuggy.
