Out with the old and in with the new

Out with the old and in with the new. It has been a busy holiday for me, as I set about going through my bedroom and cleaning out stuff that was just flat out old and useless.

I started earlier in the week, just tackling the old clothing and other material that was either too small or needing a fresh update. My goal was simple; it was to prepare the bedroom for a new bed and mattress. The painting will have top be put off for the moment; just too much to do in one weekend and with smaller details still to be taken care of it was all I could to get the room ready for a new bed frame and mattress with box spring.

The room had forever been with two twin beds, and it was not until my sleeping difficulties that I had been diagnosed with sleep apnea and just to make things more problematic, I have a deviated septum that obstructs my breathing when sleeping. It was during the sleep test that I discovered that there was need for a new mattress and box spring too.

I really needed a change in mattresses, so by Friday afternoon I had made sufficient progress to go shopping. I had selected Mattress Firm, www.mattressfirm.com and stopped over at one of their Super Centers. They have mattresses and frames from a couple of hundred dollars to the sleep number beds costing thousands.

I am not that crazy, so after finding a suitable mattress that in queen size was on sale along with a bed frame, set it up for delivery on Saturday morning. So far so good, but come delivery time, the head board is unpacked and it is cracked but good at the top so it has to be sent back sans the mattress and another delivery truck is dispatched with the new frame that arrived by 5:45 PM.

I had been washing the new sheets and the spread for the bed so those went on after things were finally in place. I have to make a few more changes, but overall things look good for the final configuration. As a room that had twin beds in it the queen size takes up some serious space, thank goodness I had selected the queen size and not the king.

I hope to hear by the middle of the upcoming week about the test results and the decision on the type of CPAP machine I will have to use. On what I will do later in terms of painting the room; will have to wait.

Well have a great week.

    • Finding the Comfort Zone October 20, 2009
So with October coming to an end, one finds the weather wackier than normal. We were hitting the low 30’s in parts of Atlanta where the temperature is not supposed to see past the 50 degree mark.  I am of course not being helped by the radical shift in temperatures with my rheumatoid arthritis kicking into [...]
